Northshore Charter School has some exciting news to share!

We were all enjoying a fantastic school year until it was sadly cut short due to circumstances beyond our control. We just couldn’t allow our school year to end without taking some time to honor our students and say farewell for the summer. In order to safely accomplish this, we have chosen to conduct a drive through Awards Day for our students. We will have a special recognition of our kindergarteners by presenting them with their 2020 graduation tassels as well as our 8th graders who will be presented graduation medals. Although we will not have the usual fanfare of programs, we hope this will be a memorable time for all of our students. There is no student dress code for this event and all students will be receiving an award.

The Awards Day will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the following times:

Kindergarten 10-11:30
1st/2nd 11:30-12:30
3rd/4th 12:30-1:30
5th/6th/7th 1:30-3:00
8th 3:00-4:00

Cars will enter through our car rider gate and drive through to the main parking lot. Students will exit their vehicles one at a time with the guidance of a staff member and walk to the festive backdrop that will be set up. Students will take a picture with their teacher/teachers who are able to attend, accept their envelope with their award/s and return to their vehicle. Cars will stop near the backdrop so parents/guardians can take pictures, but no cars will be allowed to park in the parking lot.

There will be no formal lining up of students/cars. We will just have staff asking for names of students a few cars in advance of the backdrop in order to gather their envelope so things will run smoothly and quickly. Sort of like car line, in reverse.

Parents of students in multiple grades may drive through only once if they so choose, but please understand that only the teachers for the specified time/grade slots will be available for pictures since we are still trying to limit how many people are at the school at one time.

We are so excited and hope to see all of our students on May 26th!

We want our Gator Family to stay healthy.  Please follow these guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control:

  • Limit Social Interactions: The key to slowing the spread of COVID-19 is to limit contact as much as possible. While school is out, children should not have playdates with children from other households. If children are playing outside their own homes, it is essential that they remain 6 feet from anyone who is not in their own household.

  • Practice Social Distancing: Avoid large and small gatherings in private places and public spaces, such a friend’s house, parks, restaurants, shops, or any other place. This advice applies to people of any age, including teens and younger adults.

  • Clean Hands Often: Make sure children practice everyday preventive behaviors, such as washing their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important if you have been in a public place.
